Chuck- OUTSTANDING site! I must say it brings back TONS of memories. I was an electrician's mate on USS Inflict in MinDiv 71 from February 1959 thru August of 1962. Seeing my old home even if it was a few years later sure was nice. My wife NEVER saw anything I have ever talked about concerning MSO's, your minesweeping photos have done the trick. Many many kudos for a FINE website and thanks again for all the great photos you so thoughtfully kept and posted for us old timers.

Great site. Beautiful and clear pictures. I served aboard the USS Swerve MSO-495 out of Charleston SC 65-67 as a IC3. Spent a lot of time in the pilot house as my watch station. Sure brought back life aboard a MSO. Again great site

Chuck This is far and away the best site I've seen showing minesweeping and at sea and Markettime activities. I was on the Loyalty and the Peacock in the 60's Great Job

HI Chuck - thanks for the neat Website. I'm an "Old Timer" that proudly served on the USS Inflict, MSO 456 and the USS Excel from 1957 to 1960. (Ping Jockey-aka. Sonarman) Being stationed in Long Beach Ca. was a great bit of luck for this old City boy from Detroit. Once I felt the warmth of So.Ca. I could never go back to the icy snow of Motown. I have many many great memories of the Long Beach Pike and the night life in Belmont Shore - Signal HIll - George's Roundup and other Honky Tonks. Two great Westpac tours -falling in love with momma-sans in Hong Kong and Sasebo and let's not forget the old Bamboo Bar in Subic Bay - ha ha ha -- great great memories -- thanks again for the wonderful trip down memory lane. Have a great 2009. Bud Steffen

Hi Chuck I was aboard when you were. I left for Sasebo when the ship returned to Long Beach. Excellent page and some of the best photos of MSOs I've seen on the web. In the Boarding Party Photo Are BM1 Peake, Melbe, A DC guy who's name I Can't remember and Rich DeSantis who was a GM Striker. The cook who's name you can't remember is Watson. Thanks for all the memories Mike O'Kane

Very nice presentation of the pictures. The balance between life at sea, leisure time and war activities presents a side of the Navy experience that i had never thought about.
