Picture taken in June 1969 from Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island showing the
Victoria Harborand the Kowloon Peninsula in the background. Hong Kong was a
dependent territory of the United Kingdom from 1842 until the transfer of its
sovereignty to the People’s Republic of China (ROC) in 1997.

The Implicit, Persistent, Conflict, Pledge and the Endurance are visible moored
to the piers
of the British Naval Station named HMS Tamar. The Tamar Naval
Station's pier is the ”L” shaped dock located in the right center
of the picture to
the port side or to the left of the two US Navy ships anchored in the harbor.

 Liberty Call

I am in the back seat of the Hong Kong taxi off duty and on my way to see the sights of Hong Kong.
The VW automobile behind the taxi is a Chinese vendor selling shoes and men's clothing.

A British destroyer in the center of the picture, two Mine Division 91 minesweepers
in the background and two in the foreground.

The Implicit and the other units of Mine Division 91 were painted by Mary Soo and
her family.
Using our paint, Mary Soo painted the exterior sides and super structure of
the Implicit using board seats suspended with ropes
, cloth rags tied to poles and brooms
used as paint brushes.
The operation was truly amazing to watch.
