USS Implicit MSO-455
Wooden Ship – Iron Men

Some of the junks we searched were Republic of South Vietnam cargo vessels. This vessel
transported cargo between the South Vietnam cites of Saigon, Da Nang and Hue.
We routinely checked the on board cargo against the vessel's cargo manifest looking for
contraband. We also checked all males for identification cards. Those individuals without
ID cards were retained and turned over to the South Vietnam authorities.

We used language interpreters like this South Vietnam Naval officer shown here reading the
cargo manifest. These interpreters sailed with the Implicit and other naval surveillance ships
of Market Time.

Larger vessels were searched away from the Implicit's side to avoid damage to either vessel.
We would transport our boarding party to the vessel in our motor whale boat, as shown here.
